Retired Army personnel seek non-functional upgradation
Retired Armed Forces personnel have urged the Centre to
implement ‘one rank, one pension’ system for the Armed Forces personnel
retiring in the same rank with the same length of service irrespective
of their date of retirement. They also demanded that any future rate
enhancement should be automatically passed on to the pensioners.
Addressing
presspersons here on Friday, Air Marshal S.Y. Savur said non-functional
upgradation (NFU) has been extended to the whole batch of IAS officers.
If
one of the officers in the batch is promoted and the others in the
batch are not promoted within two years, their pay is increased
equivalent to the officer promoted in the batch.
They
will get the same pension as the promoted officer, which is 50 per cent
of the last salary drawn, including NFU. If one IAS officer gets Rs.
25,000 pension, including NFU, then the whole batch would get Rs. 25,000
as pension per head.
Whereas in the Armed Forces, if
one out of the batch is promoted to the rank of Colonel, the rest of
the batch do not get non-functional upgradation even after two years, he
said.
