Pensions. All officers who are in receipt of full-time pay are members of the non-contributory Armed Forces Pension Scheme 15. The normal pension age is 60, but this can be taken earlier (from 55).

Officers are eligible for Early Departure Payments (EDP) and a tax-free lump sum after completing 20 years’ service and reaching 40 years of age, whichever is the later.

Those leaving before the 20 years’ service/40 years of age point will be eligible for a deferred pension linked to the State Pension Age.
