STATUS OF REPORT ON OROP
- SHRI RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR:
Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:
(a) what is the status of one-man Judicial Committee report on One Rank One Pension (OROP) for removal of anomalies in OROP submitted to Government in October 2016;
(b) what are the anomalies highlighted by the report and the recommendations therefor;
(c) by when Government will implement recommendations made in the report;
(d) the total amount paid towards OROP till date; and
(e) the total number of ex-servicemen and widows who have received OROP benefits?

(a) to (c): The Government appointed One Member Judicial Committee (OMJC) on OROP to look into anomalies, if any arising out of implementation of OROP on 14.12.2015. The Committee submitted its report on 26.10.2016. An internal Committee has been constituted by the Government on 19.07.2017 to examine the recommendations of OMJC with respect to feasibility and financial aspects.
(d) & (e): A sum of Rs.10,722.49 crores has been released to 20,42,892 Defence Forces Pensioners / Family Pensioners on account of OROP in four instalments upto 30.09.2017.

Sir, Decision on the recommendations by OMJC should be given in a time bound manner.
ReplyDeleteMatter should not be kept pending indefinitely.
Most of the veterans who are affected are very old.
Decision should be given at an early date.
Sir, IESM has filed a Writ Petition (Civil) No. 419 of 2016 in the honourable Supreme Court. The next hearing is is April 2018. Would not publishing the OMJC report be Contempt of Court?
